fuck you’ to heteronormative preconceptions of sexuality… an entire audience erupts in simultaneous joy and disbelief…Laughing, blinking, screaming, heads in hands face down, eyes front, this is not happening, did that just happen?

Academy Award winning actress Mark Wilson.
Having played to sell out houses in Canberra, smashed two sell out seasons in Melbourne, disturbed Perth, won acclaim in Sydney, and been equal parts hated and deified in Adelaide – Mark Wilson’s Unsex Me is a one of a kind. A unique theatrical moment. A generational thing.
Daughter of a theatre legend and a prima ballerina, award-winning actress Mark Wilson dissects her own story and her next job: being directed by her father as Lady Macbeth. Grand performances, whispered confessions, and booming self-mockery combine as she prepares, promotes and performs the role of her life.
Running time 60 minutes, no interval
Warnings: Contains extreme coarse language, adult themes, nudity, simulated sex scenes – well simulated is a stretch isn’t it. You’ve been warned ok. You’ve been warned.

Mark Wilson is an International Fellow of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, London and it shows. Unsex Me is somewhere between stand up comedian Bill Hicks, the In-Yer-Face British playwrights of the 1990s and the Royal Shakespeare Company. It’s post-dramatic, drag theatre steeped in controversial, dark comedy and high-art/high-fashion spectacle including a dress made from over 40 Scottish kilts.
