New Play Readings 2010/11
In 2010, so as that the company could best launch the MKA Richmond site, the company asked over two score Australian playwrights to contribute towards a month of play readings.
The inaugural Open Season took place in November 2010
featuring:
- development on 12 new Australian performance texts
- 25 public play readings
- 3 venues, including the brand new MKA Richmond (Nov 3-4); Upstairs at Owl (Nov 5)
and the MKA QV Pop-UP (Nov 9 – Dec 4)
The second Open Season took place in November 2011
featuring:
- development on 15 new Australian performance texts
- 15 public play readings
- a fuckin party hell yeahhhhh
- presented at MKA Abbotsford Pop-Up Theatre
at SchoolHouse Studios

We once again opened the MKA stages to the best new work by the best Australian playwrights. For three weeks the brand new 60 seat pop-up theatre in Abbotsford played host to over 15 new theatrical texts.
The most important way for any new work to develop is through performance, by being seen by you, the audience.
We want this writing to develop. And the best development it can have is being seen by you.
