REVIEW:

Unsex Me

BY MARK WILSON

LEADER NEWSPAPER, OCT 2014

Author: Shane Bell

★★★★

This show proves that the Melbourne Fringe Festival is just as its name suggests.

About three-quarters of the way through Mark Wilson’s solo performance this reviewer realised he was way out of his depth and watching something so layered and complex it couldn’t possibly all be processed.

Wilson plays a child star now in her adult years who is performing Macbeth. The byzantine character proves the performer’s astounding talent, dragging him between characters brute force both physically and expressively.

The show also heavily questioned gender roles and never really let you settle on whether the character was male or female – in fact it never let you settle at all.

An unforgettable experience which – like it or not – will change and challenge your life and your mind.
