Being Dead (Don Quixote)

KERITH MANDERSON-GALVIN
January, 2018
KingsXTheatre, Sydney

A dangerous quest of literary theft, build-your-own identity and post-anarchy. Being Dead (Don Quixote) steals from Cervantes, Barbie™ and instant porn.  Don Quixote is the idol you deserve.

Kerith Manderson-Galvin’s sensational and ever evolving signature work has alienated and captivated audiences and now debuts in Sydney for Mardi Gras. Infamous Queer Femme Kerith Manderson-Galvin (AKA Unofficial Kerith Fan Club) rips off the original rip-off artist Kathy Acker et al. in this ongoing project purposefully rewritten to Manderson-Galvin’s own shifting identity.

Kings Cross has been the cross-roads of the Emerald City for hundreds of years. A crossroads is a place where the boundaries between worlds are thin, where journeys intersect and possibilities diverge. It is a threshold or a gateway to another world.

Part hybrid immersive experience over 5 floors of the Kings Cross Hotel, part CIA-funded experiment in mind-control, KX \ ULTRA explores what it means to stand at the crossroads and make a choice. Wait at the crossroads when the time is right and the traveller might meet … anyone. Step through the gateway and the traveller might find themselves … anywhere.

Created by the team behind the sold-out VIVID 2016 smash Visiting Hours, and working with the Kings Cross Hotel, KX \ ULTRA fuses technology, imagination and dark magic to create a thrillingly unique and delightfully trippy experience.

New York writer Lucas Hnath’s hit play premieres in Australia care of MKA Theatre and Provocare Festival. Aided by a pack of cigarettes, a litre of vodka, three actors, and countless dead lemmings Walt Disney reads you a screenplay he wrote. About himself. And his death.
